Letter for Autumn

Dearest Autumn,


So long has my hand been pressed to the glass
With only your letters to help each day pass.
My breath shows like in Winter's reign,
Freezing each day, preserving the pain
That comes with being without your voice,
That grows with having made my choice.


The rebirth of the Earth is mine.
But even so, each sunbeam shines
More powerf'ly than ever before;
Spring's bounty now is so much more.
The birds all sing their lovers' songs
Wings and hearts beat fast and strong
My message carried on their wings
Ringing as each sparrow sings.
Cherries blossom at my fingertips
Thinking of the sweetness of your lips.
Each drop that falls from heaven's skies
Mimics those from mine own eyes.
When virgin snow begins to melt,
It's warmed by each feeling I felt.
The sun is reborn in your name.
For each sunrise you take the blame.
My love has done this to the world,
Each color of the sky unfurled.
Each blooming bud and sprouting seed,
Come from my hope, my joy, my need.


My dearest Autumn, do you remember
The words you spoke just last December?
You stole me on a winter breeze
And held me closely in the freeze.
You sighed in the cold and cradled my name
And asked me if I felt the same.
I told you that I didn't know
And turned my gaze back to the snow.


The answer now I shall confess.
Forevermore, the word is yes.
I find myself submerged in you.
Deep as the sea and twice as true.
By day and night you rule each thought
Filling every space, covering every spot.



My heart is yours. It's always been.
The proof is written on the wind.
