Literature Text

It's ridiculous that hearing from you
      still gives me butterflies
   still sends me memories,
            still wakes my senses.

'Cuz we're so over
       so depleted
      so done,

all the beautiful things about us
           wrung out and dried
     in the harsh summer sun.

We used to talk every night
and when I first saw you
I would delight at the feeling
of your voice in my ear.

       We were so near perfection.

I jumped at the phone ringing,
    a smile capturing my features,
like you could capture my heart.

         Still,
     if I could rewind time,
      I wouldn't change anything
    but you.
Poem.
